The diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the female reproductive system, including the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina, and vulva falls under a subspecialty known as gynecological surgery. Research has demonstrated improved outcomes for gynecological cancer patients who are being treated by this type of specialist.
As with many types of cancer, treatment for gynecological cancers often involves multiple modalities, such as schemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy and surgery. Through our strategic alliance with UCSF Health, women in Marin who need gynecologic oncology surgery can be treated at the UCSF Gynecological Surgery Oncology Clinic in Marin. This alliance allows us to offer women access to UCSF’s expert gynecological oncology program, close to home. Our team provides new patient consultations, diagnostic pelvic exams, referrals for diagnostic imaging and biopsies as indicated, advice on the latest therapies available, clinical trial opportunities, standard treatments, education, and genetic counseling for high-risk patients.
