Support Services

Support Services

A cancer diagnosis typically triggers all kinds of feelings, from shock or confusion, to sadness, fear, and anxiety. What’s more, while medical science has made incredible strides against cancer, the treatment of the disease itself can be physically and emotionally challenging. That’s why we offer an extensive array of support— before, during, and after treatment—for cancer patients and their families and caregivers.

Cancer Support Groups

MarinHealth hosts, sponsors, and facilitates free support groups for patients, family members, and other caregivers. Call our Integrative Wellness Center for more information.

Integrative Wellness

This unique program offers a wide range of integrative therapies to supplement traditional medicine and help patients cope with cancer and its treatment. Our Integrative Wellness Center provides services for both inpatients of the Medical Center and outpatients, including massage, acupuncture, meditation, and nutritional counseling.

Healing Gardens

Many Cancer Care services are administered at 1350 South Eliseo Drive, where we have wheelchair-accessible gardens that offer visitors and staff a restful place to meditate, relax, and get some fresh air. Dedicated to Alice K. Davis in 1998, the Healing Garden was designed to inspire patients awaiting treatment. The Meditation Garden provides a quiet haven for patients to relax.

Medical Library

There is a world of information on the Internet about cancer, and not all of it is vetted by professionals. Our Medical Library staff can help direct you to resources that are both reliable and accurate.

Palliative Care

Our Palliative Care team works with all Medical Center departments to assist patients and their loved ones in making informed healthcare decisions, managing symptoms, and obtaining physical, emotional, and spiritual support.

Patient Navigators

A patient navigator acts as a “point person” to deliver personalized assistance throughout the treatment process. navigators provide guidance, advocacy, education, support, and resources. Patients who partner with a navigator from diagnosis to recovery often feel calmer and more in control. Currently, our Navigators are available to serve individuals diagnosed with breast, gastrointestinal, testicular, and urological cancers.

Prostate Cancer Support Services

The goal of our Prostate Cancer Support Group is to provide a safe place for participants to understand the impact prostate cancer may have on their lifestyle.
