Our childbirth team was put together through a thoughtful collaboration between the hospital, local OB/GYN providers, and Prima midwives. The primary objective was to make it easy for patients to choose the type of labor and delivery care they want, supported by round-the-clock services such as anesthesia, pediatrics, and perinatology. We are the only hospital in either Marin or San Francisco to have both OB/GYNs and Certified Nurse Midwives on site at all times. Our registered obstetric and neonatal nurses are specially trained in support of both natural childbirth and high-risk deliveries. Anesthesiologists and pediatricians are also on-site and on-call at all times. If a pregnant mother or a newborn needs more specialized care, we work with perinatologists and neonatologists from UCSF for consult and transfer if necessary.
