Healthcare Decisions to Make When You're Healthy Please join us Monday, April 23 for this special event! Nearing end of life is no time to make end-of life healthcare decisions since you could find yourself faced with limitations – such as an accident or severe illness – that leave you incapable of doing so. By planning ahead, you can be assured that you are able to define important medical treatment decisions. In addition, the more prepared you are now, the less worry your loved ones have down the road. http://www.maringeneral.org /upload/programs-services/integrative-health-wellness/advance-directive-cihw.png
Our classes focus on prevention and wellness, activation of the body’s innate healing powers, augmentation of conventional medicine during illness and injury, and development of self-care skills. Our classes are available to inpatients, outpatients, and other community members looking to optimize their health and total sense of well-being unless mentioned otherwise. Learn more about our classes, below:
Qigong is a form of gentle movement and still meditation that uses breath and the mind to work with energy in the body. The intention is to help patients and practitioners regain a deep sense of trust in the body and to encourage an open, relaxed, and calm mental state that allows the body to more easily heal itself.
The Center for Integrative Health & Wellness hosts, sponsors, and facilitates free support groups in an effort to optimize the health and healing of patients, family, and caregivers of people with cancer.
Jin Shin Jyutsu facilitates the body’s profound healing capacity by balancing energy. Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments support the body, mind, and spirit through non-invasive, gentle touch that is administered while the individual is fully clothed.
Lower your risk of developing lymphedema through this structured, evidence-based, 4-week exercise rehabilitation program. Strength After Breast Cancer was founded by Kathryn H. Schmitz, PhD, MPH, and is based on the PAL Trial (Physical Activity and Lymphedema).
Mindfulness meditation and guided relaxation are powerful tools that help manage stress, find inner peace, and improve mental function. In addition, they help build self-control, compassion, and empathy. Regular practice can improve both mental and physical health.
Like Qigong, Yuan Gong Tai Chi that uses visualization, breathing, and body movements to calm and balance the body and mind. The movements in Yuan Gong Tai Chi, however, are more fluid and have a more overt emphasis on the martial aspects of the training. While the movements can be more complex, this class is open to all levels and abilities.
With yoga, you’ll hone your mental focus, rid your system of toxins, and so much more! You’ll even be able to touch your toes — improved flexibility is a bonus for just about every sport and activity!
Our team embraces conventional medicine for the treatment of many chronic and acute conditions. But, we also recognize that providing for the complex needs of the whole person often goes beyond traditional medicine. To that end, we promote integrative health and wellness events facilitated by our Center and from prominent third party organizations. Learn more about our upcoming events, below:
