Classes for Patients
Diabetes Prevention Class: The latest research from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) shows that with modest lifestyle changes, the onset of diabetes can often be delayed or even prevented. A physician’s referral is NOT required for this class, which educates individuals and their families about the benefits of regular exercise and healthy eating.
Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) Program: Our DSME program for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes is recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Offered in both group and one-on-one settings, this program provides comprehensive diabetes education for mastering basic self-care skills and living well with diabetes.
Workout for Wellness with Type 2 Diabetes: WOW 2 is a class that helps people with type 2 diabetes meet the challenge of increasing their activity level for weight management and better blood sugar control. Hands on support from our staff will help you create an actionable, realistic step-by-step plan. If you have had diabetes education in the past, but are still struggling with the exercise component, this is the class for you.
Diabetes Support Group for People with Type 2 Diabetes: Moderated by a licensed clinical social worker and certified diabetes educators, this support group is geared to community members with type 2 diabetes. Every session will feature a topic of the month, presented by an expert speaker and followed by a group discussion. Learn to recognize common barriers to diabetes self-management, strengthen your commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and get the support and understanding you need to meet your personal goals.
