Marin General Hospital Foundation Announces Building Better Health CampaignOverwhelming support from the community, physicians and staff lays groundwork for the construction of MGH 2.0, the North Bay’s premier healthcare destination
GREENBRAE, CA – Marin General Hospital Foundation today announced the launch of Building Better Health: The Campaign for Marin General Hospital. The Foundation is proud to share that it has raised more than $64.2 million from community members, physicians, and staff. Proceeds from the campaign will be used towards construction and outfitting of the new Marin General Hospital, MGH 2.0, slated to open in the middle of 2020. The campaign has been led by co-chairs Mike Stone, President and CEO of Mollie Stone’s Markets, and technology consultant Joe Abrams, co-founder of Intermix and Software Toolworks. The campaign has secured two 8-figure and seventeen 7-figure commitments including the 5 largest commitments in the history of Marin General Hospital. In fact, today it was announced that Foundation board member and philanthropist Bruce Braden has generously made a new bequest in the amount of $21 million to the Foundation—the largest gift ever committed in Marin General Hospital history.
“Marin General Hospital Foundation is thrilled by the extraordinary support and generosity of our friends and neighbors in Marin County. With the help of these donors, and through our Building Better Health campaign, we’re determined to see that MGH 2.0 exceeds the needs of our community and that our caregivers continue to deliver the highest quality care in the North Bay,” said Andrea Schultz, Marin General Hospital Foundation Board Chair.
In addition to Schultz, Stone and Abrams, campaign leadership also includes Foundation board members Sharon Early, Susan Gilardi, and David Sperling, MD, and Marin General Hospital physicians, Dr. Patrick Bennett, and Dr. Brian Strunk.
Marin General Hospital’s Building Better Health campaign was officially announced in tandem with a topping off ceremony on July 19, as the construction teams, hospital staff, donors and other community members watched builders hoist the final beam of the south tower into place (topping off). The event included remarks by Marin General Hospital Chief Executive Officer Lee Domanico and Simon Gregson of McCarthy Building Companies.
“On behalf of the entire Marin General Hospital family, we are very proud to embark on the Building Better Health campaign. We are so grateful to our committee chairmen, members of the Foundation Board, and our donors and volunteers for their tireless efforts to raise money for the next generation of Marin General Hospital”, said Domanico. “Each gift or donation helps ensure our ability to provide state-of-the-art medical services in a healing environment.”
While the campaign has been incredibly successful so far, the Foundation would like to encourage more of the community to become involved with Building Better Health.
