Volunteer In-Service Work Areas

BABYNOOK:
  • Retail sales, inventory, price and stock maternity and infant merchandise and gifts
  • BOOKCART:
  • Replenish current magazines to all waiting areas in the hospital.
  • CANCER & HEART INSTITUTE:
  • Provide information to patients and family members visiting the institute
  • Help staff with special clerical projects in various departments.
  • Assist with research & information in Circle Library
  • Assist with information & referral in Breast Health.
  • COURTESY VISITS:
  • The Patient Liaison Program functions as a resource and referral for patient needs and inquiries, which includes daily visits to patients to evaluate their hospital stay
  • DOCENT PROGRAM:
  • Tour guides for community groups and individuals wanting more information about the hospital.
  • EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT:
  • Part of the patient care team.
  • Provide information and refreshments to families in waiting room.
  • FAMILY INFORMATION:
  • Liaison between surgical staff and families/friends of patients in surger
  • Provide refreshments to waiting family members and friends.
  • FLOOR DUTY:
  • Work in the Volunteer Office, answer phones, disseminate information, schedule classes, accept flowers for patients, use the computer, etc.
  • Run errands: patient mail, flowers, menus, newspapers and medical records, etc.
  • Perform tasks for other departments, such as : folding, bulk mailings, stuffing doctor's boxes, clerical, computer, etc.
  • FRONT DESK RECEPTION:
  • Direct visitors and patients to rooms or departments within the hospital
  • Disseminate information to visitors, patients and callers
  • GIFT GALLERY:
  • Retail sales, use of cash register, stock and price merchandise
  • MATERNITY UNIT:
  • Assist staff with clerical duties such as making up patient charts, filing, etc.
  • Change crib sheets, run errands and act as liaison between families and staff.
  • Make packets for new mothers.
  • PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES:
  • Assist with socialization projects with the patients. (must be a high school graduate.)
  • "S.M.I.L.E." CART "Students Making Illness a Little Easier":
  • High School Students visit with patient and see to their needs
  • Offer complimentary items from "S.M.I.L.E." cart
  • RADIOLOGY:
  • Assist staff and help provide patient care.
  • SURGERY CENTER OF MARIN:
  • Provide information and refreshments to patient's families and friends
  • Assist patients with pre-op procedures.
  • Assist patients and staff in recovery room.
  • CLERICAL:
  • The Foundation, Medical Records, Human Resource, EP Lab, Nutrition Services, and Quality Management all require clerical assistance. This includes computer operation, answering telephones, filing, archiving files, ordering supplies, photocopying, etc.
