Our pre-registration nurse will contact you before your procedure to obtain information and answer any questions you may have. If we have not reached you one to two days prior to your procedure date, you may call Admitting at (415) 925-7243 or Pre-admission at (415) 925-7650. |

Expect to complete your recovery at home, unless your physician has arranged for you to stay overnight. |

You must have a responsible person accompany and drive you home. If you are unable to arrange a ride, we will have to cancel or reschedule your procedure. (You may not take a bus or taxi home alone.) |

It is best to have your ride remain in the waiting area until you are discharged. If that is not possible, be sure to have a phone number where they can be reached as soon as you are ready to go home. |

Make sure a responsible adult stays with you for the rest of the day and through the night following surgery. If you have no one to stay with you, please call us for a list of resources. |

If you have children, you will need to make childcare arrangements so that you can rest when you get home. |
|
|
Please check with your physician to see whether you should take the medications you normally take in the morning. Do not eat or drink anything (no water - except with a very small sip with medications) after midnight, unless you are instructed differently by the anesthesiologist; no chewing gum, lozenges or hard candy. |

If your child is having a procedure and you wish for him/her to have a tour of the facility prior to their procedure, please call clinical support at (415) 925-7650. |
