Following the birth of the baby and a recovery, bonding period, new mothers and their support person will be
transferred to another private room with their baby for the rest of their hospital stay. These cozy, sunlit rooms are
equipped with guest pull-out beds, televisions, refrigerators and private bathroom. Mothers are encouraged to room in with their
babies to promote feeding and bonding,
with respite care available in the nursery when needed.
During this special time, various staff members will be available to assist you. Our trained postpartum nurses,
as well as certified Lactation Consultants, are available to assist with breastfeeding needs. A perinatal data coordinator
will visit new parents to record the newborn's information and register the birth with the County of Marin, initiating the
Birth Certificate process. The Marin General Audiology department oversees our program for performing hearing screens on all
our babies before discharge. The Marin General Health and Hearing department’s massage
therapists are available for mom’s comfort and relaxation if needed.
Throughout your stay with us, our specially trained staff provide
ongoing education to ensure each new family has the
information and access to resources they may need as they begin their new lives together.
