We were among the first hospitals in the Bay Area to use paramedic rigs to perform remote electrocardiograms for earlier diagnosis and faster, more effective treatment. In addition, our Emergency Department staff is exceptionally well-trained and focused on chest pain syndromes. And our accreditation as a Chest Pain Center with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) means we exceed stringent guidelines established by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association to rapidly assess and treat patients using catheterization techniques. This procedure eliminates blockages and reestablishes blood flow to the heart, limiting the extent of injury to heart muscle.

The Haynes Cardiovascular Institute operates a full-service Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab, offering diagnostic services and treatment. Emergency coronary intervention, performed in the Cath Lab, has become the standard of care for most sudden heart attacks. As one of the first centers in the Bay Area to make emergency angioplasty available 24/7, we have accumulated almost two decades of experience in this procedure. Our success rate for coronary intervention has consistently exceeded 98 percent and our team outperforms national standards for door-to-treatment times by 46 minutes.
