Marin Resident to Climb Mt. Shasta to Benefit Breast Cancer Research
Alice Dunning of San Rafael is planning her second climb of Mount Shasta in June to raise funds to fight breast cancer for the Breast Cancer Fund. Following more than three decades as a cancer caregiver, she is continuing her commitment to raise awareness and will make the climb with her brother-in-law, Gil Arriaga of Davis. Dunning is a radiation therapist at the Marin Cancer Institute, a program of Marin General Hospital.

Marin Cancer Institute Receives Outstanding Achievement Award
The Marin Cancer Institute, the community cancer program operated by Marin General Hospital since 1992, has been awarded a 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award by the nationally recognized American College of Surgeons, making it the only Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program in the Bay Area to be given the prestigious honor this year.

Advanced Laser System at Marin General Hospital Provides New Treatment Option to People with Glaucoma.
Marin General Hospital has installed a laser system that significantly adds to the treatment options for glaucoma, a degenerative eye disease that can cause permanent damage leading to vision loss and blindness without warning or symptoms
Marin General Emergency Department to Participate in 'Every 15 Minutes'
Marin General Hospital Emergency Department staff, physicians and volunteers will participate in the Every 15 Minutes program this spring with students from Redwood High School, Novato High School and San Marin High School.
MGH Physicians Help Operation Access
Twenty physicians on staff at Marin General Hospital helped 85 patients in 2009 through the Operation Access program, a non-profit organization that helps connect uninsured patients with free surgical care through a network of Bay Area medical volunteers, hospitals and community clinics. Physicians practiced along with Anesthesia Consultants of Marin to provide free services to these patients. Also participating were Marin Medical Laboratories and California Advanced Imaging Medical Associates.
