The Marin Cancer Institute

The scope of services at the Marin Cancer Institute covers everything from prevention and testing to rehabilitation and supportive care. Because early detection is your best protection against cancer, we offer extensive community education and cancer screening programs to residents of Marin and beyond.

Awarded nine out of nine possible commendations by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, our Marin Cancer Institute (MCI) has special expertise in breast, prostate, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal cancers. Emergency/Trauma Services:

As the area’s only trauma center, Marin General Hospital has a team of board-certified emergency physicians, nurses, and other specialists available to care for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Level-III trauma center is equipped to handle most emergencies, including neurosurgical capabilities for head trauma.

Our Emergency Services department is in the process of implementing a few changes to reduce wait times and overcrowding. These changes will bring the physician into the process early on, at the point of triage.

Haynes Cardiovascular Institute:

From disease prevention and education to the latest minimally invasive interventional and surgical techniques, the Haynes Cardiovascular Institute offers a full range of sophisticated cardiac services. Orthopedics:

Our Orthopedic Specialty Program treats a full range of hip, knee, spine, and shoulder problems, including sports injuries, falls and fractures, arthritic conditions, and trauma. Surgeons, anesthesiologists, orthopedic nurses, and physical and occupational therapists actively collaborate to deliver high-level care.

Women and Children’s Services:

We have 24-hour physician coverage for obstetrics, pediatrics, and anesthesiology. All Marin General Hospital obstetricians and pediatricians are board-certified. Women & Children Services anesthesiologists are board-certified as well, with special experience in obstetrics and pediatric anesthesia. Should a newborn need medical attention, the hospital has a Level-II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), staffed with neonatologists and specially trained nurses.

The Pediatric Hospitalist Program ensures that all newborn babies delivered at the Hospital are evaluated immediately after birth. As a baby grows, we remain a resource in case of illness, trauma, or the need for surgery. All of our pediatric hospitalist physicians have special skills in hospital-based pediatric care.
