We know that having a loved one in a hospital can be stressful and
tiring. The clinical social work staff can help you navigate through
the medical systems, find resources in the community, and support you
as you cope with the stress of illness and hospitalization.
Our team of Licensed Clinical Social Workers considers your
psychological and social functioning and assist as needs arise
throughout your stay.
Emergency Department and medical staff refer any of their patients who
appear to have urgent psychosocial problems to a psychiatric social
worker under the supervision of the behavioral health medical director
and on-call psychiatrists. The social worker is available 24 hours per
day to provide assessment, crisis intervention, information and
referral services.
Problems addressed include drug and alcohol abuse, feeling or
appearing emotionally out of control, acting in unusual ways, new
difficulty remembering or making sense of things, having major
problems with work, family or friends, elder and child abuse or
neglect, and/or lack of basic survival resources. The social worker
works with various community agencies to ensure that persons who
appear to be endangering themselves or others because of psychiatric
problems are provided treatment in a safe setting.
Marin General medical and psychiatric staff provide compassionate,
quality behavioral health assessment services - let us know how we can
help you or your hospitalized loved one.
