Marin General
Hospital is hosting a two-day trauma training program this week
for 26 paramedics from Marin County fire agencies and private
ambulance companies. The hospital is providing the course free to
14 paramedics and at a discount to 12 others on Oct. 20 and 21.
“The course is a nationally recognized educational format
which focuses on how to care for trauma patients as they are being
transported to a hospital or trauma center,” said Mary Jane
Boyd, RN, the hospital’s Trauma Coordinator.
The price of the REACH Training Institute course is $300. RTI is a
branch of REACH Medical Services, Santa Rosa.
“This is a great example of a successful partnership between
Marin General Hospital and Marin County fire agencies. It’s
an extension of the teamwork that exists on a day to day basis
while caring for patients,” said Mike Giannini, Marin County
Fire Battalion Chief. “We are grateful that the hospital has
facilitated this program. Ultimately, classes such as this serve
to improve the care that we provide in the field.”
The course is sponsored by the hospital’s Trauma Services
Department and Emergency Department.
