California State Senator Carole Migden honored Marin General's Lactation Center during a Mother's Day press conference promoting the importance of breastfeeding. Moms and their babies, hospital staff, nurses and physicians attended.

Migden recognized MGH for its 95 percent rate of breastfeeding by new mothers. The hospital was recognized last summer by the California WIC Association for being the top hospital in the state for supporting new moms in their decision to breastfeed their babies. Chris Costello, RN, IBCLC, MGH Lactation Consultant, accepted the award.

Migden also announced a new bill, SB 22, she's developed which would double the number of sites offering breastfeeding support to new mothers throughout the state of California.
